Move aside V-Day, there's another holiday being celebrated today that should not be cast in your gushy-lovey dovey shadow: Galentine's Day is a day in honor of celebrating your gal-pals, the lovely ladies in your life, your sistahs from another mistah.
I did some very intensive research into the origins of this sacred day, and it turns out the holiday was created by a very prominent fictional character in our modern day society: Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec back in 2010. Leslie says in the show, "“Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style...Ladies celebrating ladies.” If that's not a better reason to round up your gaggle of girls and go drink cocktails after work today, I don't know what is.
You can celebrate today however you want, but here are some helpful ideas:
1. Wine and cheese Happy Hour
2. Mani/pedis (with alcohol)
3. A target shopping spree trip (pregame in the parking lot)
4. An Anti-Men Champagne party
5. A good ol'fashion sleepover (with lots of scary movies or rom/coms, popcorn, candles, and of course more champagne)
