One of the most annoying things about Netflix may finally be going away for GOOD.

hmm

We've all been sitting in front of Netflix . . . watching our third episode of something . . . and got the "Are you still watching?" message.

It's a little annoying . . . and very JUDGY.  It's like, "YES, I'm still watching . . . and what's it to you?  YOU hooked me on this show in the first place."

Well, Netflix might let you opt out of those in the future.  They're testing a new message, which includes three responses:  "Ask again later," "play without asking again," and "I'm done."

The "play without asking again" option suggests that you'll no longer receive the prompt . . . possibly forever.  Netflix hasn't commented, so it's not 100% clear if that means you'd NEVER see the prompt again.

There are benefits to Netflix checking in.  If you get distracted or fall asleep, it's not good to have it continuing to stream for hours and hours on end.  It also helps keep your place, and it's a gentle reminder that you've been watching for a while.

And there are business reasons why Netflix would like to know if you're still around or if you dozed off a few episodes back.

It's unclear if and when the new screen with the options will become standard.
