“I’ve never really liked boxes,” Ne-Yo shared, “I know that I’m more than music.” He doesn’t like being compartmentalized and being known for just one thing. So as he transitions into these new avenues like acting, directing, producing, and writing he has come to realize he has a new found passion for being behind the scenes.

“My passion is behind the scenes, I want to direct and write and produce.”

He admitted that he is currently learning how to write scripts but it is a bit more complicated than writing songs, “I’m in the process of learning how to write a script, it's a little different than writing a song… it's a completely different language.”

“I’ve always had stories to tell and some of them are just a little bigger than a song,” Ne-Yo shared on why he’s interested in crossing over into the world of television and film.

Ne-Yo currently has two holiday movies out: The Sound of Christmas and Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding. He also is starring as a judge in Netflix’s latest dance competition show, Dance Monsters. and is a main character in Step Up High Water on Starz.
