Styles will be delivering new music with Harry’s House. The hotly anticipated third solo album will arrive on May 20Tonight starting at 7PM ET/ 12AM BST, Styles’ lead single, “As It Was,” will be playing across all your favorite Audacy Pop stations as an official Audacy World Premiere. Fans will be able to hear the new song all day and get their first taste of Harry’s House.

Upon the arrival of “As It Was,” Styles has made it clear to fans that his Fine Line era is very much in the past, as he takes fans on a synth Pop journey and transformation on the new track.

Through gentle vocals, the song’s upbeat pace and delicate drumbeats reminiscent of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” era, Styles sings about uncertainty and the idea of nothing lasting forever.

Stuck in the idea of impermanence Harry calls out his own struggle with candid transparency, singing, “Answer the phone / Harry, you’re no good alone / Why are you sitting at home on the floor / What kind of pills are you on?”

At the start of the track, before the synths burst into full rhythmic harmony, listeners hear a child’s voice urging Harry, saying, “C’mon Harry, we want to say goodnight to you!” In a recent interview with Capital FM, the artist revealed that the identity behind the child’s voice was Ruby Winston, his goddaughter and daughter of producer Ben Winston.

He explained, “She used to try and call me before bedtime every night so one time I don't know, it didn't ring or something, and she sent me that and I dug it out at some point while we were in the studio and put it in front of the song for some reason. I just fell in love with it and it stuck.”

Additionally, while making his press rounds, Styles revealed, “I feel very lucky that this is the proudest I've been of something that I've made so far. I feel the most comfortable I've been with myself and happiest with what I'm making and the best I felt about something that I'm making."

The GRAMMY winner noted that the happiness he’s experiencing in his personal life is reflected in his new body of work.

“I also feel really happy at the moment and I feel like it's the first time I feel like I'm making music and putting music out from a real place of personal freedom,” explained the artist. “And that is a really liberating place to [be] creating from and now putting it out."

Styles’ album announcement and the new single come just a few weeks before he plays his headlining set at this year’s 2022 Coachella festival on April 15 and 22.
