The Weeknd has been teasing his new era for a minute now, and as he dropped hints here and there, we grew progressively more hype with each nugget of information. Well, we needn’t wait any longer, the time has finally come, as his newest single “Take My Breath” has officially arrives. Listen to it all day, Friday August 6, as a World Premiere on your favorite Audacy Pop station.
A magical disco groovy vibe, the track glitters with warm keys, synth arpeggios and a driving beat, that had us hooked way before he “saw the fire” in our eyes.

Prior to it’s release, on Monday night to be exact, the singer announced the impeding single with the caption: “8.6.21 new single,” which he shared with a preview of in video ad for the Tokyo Olympics Team USA Women’s Track & Field team.
Featuring Sydney McLaughlin, Dalilah Muhammad, Athing Mu and Gabby Thomas as embodiments of the Mooski lyrics “she’s a runner, she’s a track star.” All while the pulsing synth-heavy beat plays a perfect backdrop as they hit the pavement, at what to us mere mortals, seems like supersonic speed.
Premiering alongside the track is the much buzzed about music video. But WARNING: originally the video was scheduled to air in IMAX theaters this week as part of the previews for Suicide Squad. However was pulled due to epilepsy warnings regarding “intense strobe lighting.”
As expected the Cliqua directed visual is beyond lit, and features lots of leather (both regular and patent), chain jewelry, moody vibes, oxygen tanks, sunglasses at night, and killer hair (but like literally).
Sick right?! Hopefully everyone presently reading this is aware of the impending fact that “The Dawn is Coming,” so if you love The Weeknd as much as we do, then like us, you’ll be listening to your favorite Audacy pop station every day and all day long to hear “Take My Breath,” until the day it finally arrives.
