NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Broadway will soon get yet another taste of Hollywood.
The Oscar-winning movie "La La Land," featuring Ryan Gosling as a jazz musician and Emma Stone as an aspiring actress, is being turned into a Broadway musical by producer Marc Platt and Lionsgate. However, a premiere date has not yet been announced.
"I’m thrilled to reunite with Lionsgate and the incredible team behind La La Land to adapt the movie for the Broadway stage, the next exciting chapter in its evolution," said Platt. "We’ve assembled a world-class team to create a musical that will delight La La Land’s millions of current fans and introduce the property to a whole new audience."
The show will be directed by Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-winning director Bartlett Sher, based on a book written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar and three-time Barrymore Award winner Matthew Decker. The stage adaptation will feature music by the film’s composer and two-time Academy Award winner Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by the Oscar and Tony-winning composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The film earned Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Stone, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Original Song.
Memorably, the movie written and directed by Damien Chazelle was wrongfully announced as that year's best picture winner before clarification, with "Moonlight" actually taking home the top film prize.
