The stabbing took place during a fight between two Mount Vernon STEAM Academy students and two Denzel Washington School students just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Gramatan Avenue and East Prospect Avenue, Patch reported.

It’s unclear which school the girl with the knife attended.

The teenager killed a 16-year-old and badly wounded a 15-year-old, according to a press release from the Mount Vernon mayor’s office.

The 15-year-old had multiple stab wounds and was treated at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital. She’s expected to make a full recovery.

No names of those involved will be released due to age.

Police were able to identify which girl was wielding the knife by reviewing video recorded by onlookers.

The suspect will be tried for manslaughter and attempted assault in Westchester County Youth Court.
