2 high school students killed in NJ car crash

WAYNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Two New Jersey high school students were killed in a traffic crash over the weekend, officials said.

Christian Enrico and Liam Pakonis were killed in a collision on Friday.

They were both students at Wayne Hills High School and were members of the Wayne Hills swim team.

Enrico was 17, according to his obituary with Stellato Funeral Homes in Fairfield and is survived by his parents, five siblings, nephews, and one grandparent.

An obituary for Pakonis was not been releaesed as of Monday morning.

"I express our deepest condolences on the tragic loss of two of our high school students, Christian Enrico and Liam Pakonis, who tragically passed away,” Wayne Board of Education President Donald Pavlak, Jr. said in a statement posted on TapInto. "The loss of these two young lives is a tragedy that has touched our entire school community."

Details surrounding the crash were not immediately available Monday.
