NEW JERSEY (1010 WINS) — After allegedly stealing bicycles last year while off-duty, two police officers from Lower Township resigned from their jobs as part of a plea deal, NJ Advance reported.

The officers, Eric Campbell and Austin Craig, were caught on surveillance video back in October taking the bicycles from the Decatur Street area in Cape May, according to officials.
“Both officers entered into pretrial intervention,“ Lt. Daniel D. Holt of the Cape May Prosecutor’s Office said in an email to NJ Advance Monday. “Part of this plea agreement is that they are prohibited from public employment within Cape May County. Both officers have resigned their positions with the Lower Township Police Department.”
Last year, the two ex-cops, both 28 at the time, were charged with fourth-degree theft.
Further details of the plea agreement were not immediately available.
According to state prison records, Campbell was hired in 2019 and was making an annual salary of $48,907 while Craig was hired in 2016 and paid $48,071 per year.
