
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A massive fire broke out in Jersey City on Friday afternoon, causing third-degree burns to one man and displacing more than a dozen residents, officials said.

The Jersey City Fire Department responded at around 4:05 p.m. to a three-story home on Van Horne Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed a working fire that might have originated on the top floor ro the rear of the home, officials said.
A Jersey City police officer who was first on the scene ran into the building where the fire originated and rescued the injured male. He has since been taken to a local hospital.
Officials said the upper floors in five of the attached buildings were damaged as the fire spread though the cockloft. The fire is now under control.
The Red Cross is on the scene assisting 15 displaced residents.
