
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Authorities arrested a man on Thursday after a pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV at a Bronx intersection, according to the NYPD.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Burke and Bouck avenues in Laconia.
Upon arrival, officers observed 51-year-old Elizabeth Wolmart with trauma to the head and body.
EMS rushed Wolmart to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where she was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation determined that 32-year-old Zavee Georges was traveling westbound on Bouck Avenue in a white Mercedes Benz SUV when he made a left turn onto Burke Avenue, striking the pedestrian who was crossing at the location.
Police arrested Georges who remained on scene. He was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
