CT state police search for missing hiker on Appalachian Trail

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- State police are searching for a hiker who went missing earlier this week along the Appalachian Trail in Connecticut, according to authorities.

Officials said 60-year-old Marta Renee Bowen went missing from her campsite on the trail in Kent.

Bowen has been missing since about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Her cell phone and hiking gear were left behind, police noted.

Bowen is described as having gray hair and brown eyes. She is about 5-feet-7 and may have been wearing a maroon puffer jacket and dark pants.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call State Police Troop L in Litchfield at (860) 626-7900.
