Drunk man struck NJ cyclist with 2 kids in car: police

BAYONNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A Staten Island man was driving drunk with his two children when he struck a cyclist in Bayonne on Saturday night, sending the cyclist to a local hospital with severe injuries, authorities said.

Rainier J. Solis, 45, charged with DWI, assault by auto and endangering the welfare of children, Bayonne Capt. Eric Amato told NJ.com.

Police said Solis struck the cyclist in the area of Route 440 and East 22nd Street.

He was taken into custody at 9:47 p.m. after an investigation.

The extent of the 37-year-old cyclist’s injuries wasn't immediately clear, but police said he treated at an area hospital.
