HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A man accused of fatally stabbing a friend and attacking that friend’s wife when she tried to intervene in Huntington Station was indicted on Wednesday, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Candelario Cordova, 53, allegedly stabbed his co-worker and friend Roque Cisneros, 58, on Feb. 16.
Cisneros’ wife said she saw her husband in the passenger seat of an SUV driven by Cordova in the couple’s driveway.
When Cordova suddenly pulled away from the house, she followed him in her own car.
She watched Cordova exit his SUV around the corner to retrieve a knife from the trunk before repeatedly stabbing Cisneros, according to officials.
When she tried to intervene, he allegedly started stabbing her as well.
Several passing drivers pulled over to help out. The good Samaritans were able to restrain Cordova until police arrived and arrested him.
Emergency responders pronounced Cisneros dead at the scene. His wife was treated for her stab wounds at Huntington Hospital.
“The victim’s wife watched in horror as the defendant allegedly murdered her husband, and then when she tried to intervene, the defendant turned the knife on her,” said Suffolk District Attorney Raymond Tierney. “Such violence will not be tolerated in Suffolk County.”
Cordova was indicted on murder, attempted murder and assault charges Wednesday.
