WEST HILLS, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was arrested Thursday after he stabbed a husband and wife on a Long Island road, killing the husband, Suffolk County Police said.
Many details about the stabbing were still unclear Friday, but police said Candelario Cordova, 53, stabbed the Huntington Station couple in West Hills on Thursday afternoon.
Cordova was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee just before 1 p.m. with Roque Cisneros, 58, as a passenger when he pulled over on Oakwood Road.
Cordova went to the trunk and got a knife, which he used to stab Cisneros, police said.
Cisneros’ wife, Vilma Campos, 54, then pulled up in a separate vehicle, and Cordova started stabbing her, according to police.
Police officers arrested Cordova, of Huntington Station, after stunned witnesses called 911.
Cisneros was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The relationship between Cordova and the couple wasn’t immediately known, and police haven’t said what may have motivated the attack.
Cordova was charged with second-degree murder, with additional charges pending, police said. He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
