NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting several women when they were unconscious while posing as a rideshare driver, District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced.

“Over and over again, this defendant preyed upon young women simply seeking safe passage home after a night out,” said Tierney. “Now, thanks to the great work of the prosecution team, he has been held responsible for his actions and will spend the next 25 years in jail, where he will be unable to prey upon vulnerable victims.”
The Bay Shore man, Raul Guaman, was caught on surveillance video in November 2021 burglarizing a home and later admitted to sexually assaulting a woman after breaking in, authorities said.
Guaman was arrested and eventually admitted to the crimes during an interview with detectives. While being questioned, Guaman gave permission to police to search his cellphone where they found evidence of sexual assault dating back years, according to officials.
Detectives found numerous pictures of young women’s driver’s license on the cellphone as well as videos, some dating back to 2015, of Guaman sexually assaulting unconscious women.
Guaman eventually pleaded guilty in June to several sexual assault and burglary charges. He also had to consent to HIV testing as part of his plea deal.
Along with the 25-year prison sentence, Guaman was also given 20 years of post-release supervision.
