
FREEPORT, L.I. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man was arrested after sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl during a taxi ride, officials said.

The incident happened on Feb. 9 when the victim contacted a local car service to pick her up and take her home. She was picked up by 30-year-old taxi driver Euny MejiaMejia, police said.
Before arriving at the victim’s destination, police said MejiaMejia allegedly leaned back toward the girl and asked her for a kiss while he took her cell phone from her.
The victim attempted to exit the vehicle from the back seat but the driver sped up in the 2012 Toyota Highlander and the victim was unable to exit, officials said.
MejiaMejia then parked, leaned back and allegedly began to touch the girl’s private parts. The victim then grabbed a water bottle from the center console and hit the driver with it and escaped the vehicle, police said.
The girl ran to her home which was nearby and called 911 while the suspect fled the scene.
The Special Victims Squad investigated the incident and identified the driver and charged him with with attempted rape, sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.
