1 killed, 2 injured when vehicle crashes into fence at JFK airport

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman was killed and two others were injured after the vehicle they were in crashed through a fence outside of John F. Kennedy International Airport Sunday night, officials said.

According to authorities, the collision happened at approximately 11:20 p.m. when a 28-year-old man was driving a Honda Accord on Rockaway Boulevard when he struck the sidewalk at Brookville Boulevard, sending the car into the air.

The vehicle then hit a fence, cops said.

A 25-year-old rear seat passenger was impaled by a piece of the fence.

She was taken to St. John's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

EMS transported the driver was to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition.

A 28-year-old front passenger was also transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

An investigation remains ongoing.
