NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 14-year-old girl was shot and wounded as she walked to her cousin’s home in East Harlem early Friday morning, police said.

The victim heard a shot and felt pain in her leg as she walked on First Avenue, near Paladino Avenue, at the Wagner Houses shortly after 1 a.m.
Police said she’d been shot once in her right thigh.
She was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive.
The suspect is believed to be a male wearing black clothing and a black mask. Police said he fled in an unknown direction.
Police said it’s not yet known if the girl was the target of the shooting.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
