NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Nearly 20 people were injured Friday when a school bus was involved in a three-car crash on the Staten Island Expressway, according to authorities.

The incident happened near the Victory Boulevard exit on the highway and caused a major traffic buildup as travelers continue to hit the roads for the holidays.
FDNY officials did not say how the collision occurred but said there was no extrications required.
Video on Citizen App showed the traffic build up on the Staten Island Expressway and a large response from the FDNY.
In addition to the school bus, two other vehicles appeared to be involved in the collision.
In total, 19 people were injured, according to the FDNY. Of those 19, four suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and 15 suffered minor injuries. Four people refused transportation to the hospital.
It remains unclear how many children were on the bus at the time of the crash, but video on Citizen showed several minors standing outside the bus.
FDNY officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
