NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A two-alarm fire erupted in a two-story house in the Bronx on Monday causing injuries to four people, FDNY officials said.

The blaze started just after 1 p.m. on the back deck of a Pelham Bay area house and spread to the attic, authorities said.
Firefighters were concerned about the lightweight construction of the home and feared it would collapse. Con Edison and Fire Department Hazmat Units were also called to the scene due to a possible gas leak fueling the fire, officials said.
Deputy Fire Chief Kenneth Scanlon said a 9-year-old girl was rescued from the basement of the house with minor injuries and a firefighter burned his hands going out of a second floor window as fire erupted around him.
“He had to hook the rope up to lower himself out the second floor window while the window lit up on him,” Scanlon told 1010 WINS Reporter Roger Stern.
The firefighter was taken to Jacobi Hospital with minor injuries along with another firefighter and civilian, both also with minor injuries.
The FDNY said the blaze was under control about two hours later and is under investigation.
