The girl, whose identity is not yet public, was swimming on Beach 108th Street when she started struggling to stay above water around 6 p.m., according to police.

Good Samaritans pulled her from the water, and emergency responders rushed her to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Just 20 minutes later at Beach 98th Street, FDNY rescue workers and Parks Enforcement Patrol tried to save a man in his 20s from drowning, authorities said.

Emergency responders also brought him to St. John’s Episcopal, where he was pronounced dead.

Both victims were swimming in restricted areas with no lifeguard on duty.
