NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A cab driver was assaulted and robbed by two men inside of his vehicle earlier this month while picking up a passenger, authorities said.
The 26-year-old victim was in front of 255 West 14th Street around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 when the attack happened, police said.
Two men got into the victim’s vehicle but were asked to exit because they were in the wrong car, according to officials.
The men refused to get out of the vehicle and started beating up the driver instead, punching and kicking him in the face and body, cops said.
Before fleeing the scene, the attackers also stole the man’s cellphone. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
