NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An attempted robbery at a Bronx subway station ended in gunfire—and with the suspect in critical condition, police said.
Shots rang out at the 182nd-183rd St. station on the Grand Concourse in Fordham Heights before 7 p.m. Saturday as one man tried to rob another, according to police.
A 21-year-old man armed with a gun approached a 40-year-old man demanding money, leading to a struggle over the firearm, police said.
The 40-year-old was shot in the stomach and the 21-year-old was shot in the head and neck, according to police.
Citizen App video shows a man being wheeled out of the station on a stretcher.
The suspect was hospitalized in critical condition and not expected to survive, while the victim was in stable condition, police said.
The shooting comes amid a spike in violent crime in the transit system.
