NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An armed robber fired a gunshot as he stole a man’s Rolex watch near Rockefeller Center on Monday evening, police said.
The victim was mugged at 6:30 p.m. outside a Starbucks at W. 48th Street and Rockefeller Plaza, just a block south of the main plaza, and steps away from the “Today” show studio.
The thief tried to grab the man’s Rolex watch, leading a struggle between the two men at the height of the evening rush.
During the scuffle, the armed crook fired off one shot, according to police, who said no one was struck by the bullet.
The robber managed to snatch the victim’s watch and fled with it. He was last seen heading westbound on W. 48th Street, police said.
No arrests had been reported as of Tuesday.
