VIDEO: Armed suspect asks victim for directions in Bronx attempted robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released video footage Wednesday of a suspect who allegedly asked a man for directions before trying to rob him at gunpoint in the Bronx.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8, the suspect approached a 48-year-old man as he was walking in the vicinity of Findlay Avenue and East 169th Street in Claremont Village and asked for directions.

As the victim turned around to offer assistance, the suspect proceeded to remove a black firearm from a fanny pack around his waist and demanded his property, officials said.

The victim was able to evade his attacker who then fled northbound on Findlay Ave.

There was no property removed or injuries reported as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man approximately 20-30 years of age, 5’8” tall, 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue sweatpants.
