NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 77-year-old Asian man was pushed to the ground at random outside a Brooklyn market on Monday, police said Wednesday as they released surveillance video of the suspect.
It's one of the latest attacks on Asian Americans in the city this year. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault.
The victim was looking at vegetables at the J&R NY Supermarket on Avenue U, near E. 14th Street, in Sheepshead Bay around 2 p.m. when the assailant pushed him to the ground and kept walking, police said.
No words were exchanged before the attack, according to police.
The victim suffered bruising to his left arm but refused medical attention, police said.
About four blocks away from the attack, a man pulled a 32-year-old Asian woman's hair in an apparently random assault in the Homecrest neighborhood.
