At least 6 shot, 1 fatally, in NYC overnight

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – At least four shootings in the span of as many hours Friday night left one man dead and five others wounded, police said.

Three of the shootings were in Brooklyn and a fourth was in Manhattan.

Police said a 25-year-old man was shot and killed at Osborn Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville around 8:25 p.m.

Responding officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his body. He was transported to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A man in his 40s was also shot on 58th Street, near Eighth Avenue, in Sunset Park, around 11 p.m., police said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive.

Two other men were shot at Irving Square Park on Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick around 12:30 a.m., police said.

One of the men was shot in his leg and the other was shot in his shoulder. Both were taken to area hospitals in stable condition, according to police.

Two women, ages 38 and 26, were also shot in Manhattan, police said.

The shooting followed a dispute at Dyckman Street and Vermilyea Avenue in Inwood. Police said both women were shot in their thighs. They were hospitalized in stable condition.

Police were searching for a dark-colored sedan that fled the scene.

No arrests have been reported in any of the shootings.

As of Thursday, there have been 823 shooting incidents with 961 victims (wounded or killed) in the city this year, according to police. That’s compared to 667 shooting incidents with 820 victims during the same period last year.
