NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- President Joe Biden awarded an FDNY firefighter the Public Safety Officer Medal of Honor on Monday for heroically saving a 5-year-old girl from a burning building in Washington Heights.

Abraham Miller was repelling off the roof of the burning building in September 2020 when he noticed a small hand reaching out of a window below him.

At the sixth floor, he punched out the glass of the window and pulled the child to safety.

The award Biden hung around Miller’s neck on Monday goes to responders who exhibit exceptional courage regardless of personal safety.

He was one of 15 police officers and firefighters from across the country who received the award in the White House East Room on Monday.
