NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- The body of a 13-year-old Harlem boy who had been missing, along with his friend, since last week was pulled from the Harlem River on Thursday morning.
Garrett Warren's remains were found near where the NYPD has been searching for him and Alfa Barrie, 11, Warren's family confirmed. Both boys disappeared last Friday night.
An autopsy on Warren is expected to be performed Friday, WABC reported. The medical examiner will work to determine how he died.
The NYPD Harbor Unit recovered the body from the water around 10:15 a.m. near the Madison Avenue Bridge, which is the area where police have been searching for Warren and Barrie.

The two boys were last seen together Friday night at Anas Fish Market at Lenox Avenue and W. 145th Street in Harlem.
Warren was later seen outside of his home on W. 143rd Street in Harlem around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police. Neither boy had been seen since then.
The boys attend different schools and were reported missing at different times, but because they're friends, police believe they were together when they disappeared.
The NYPD has been posting missing flyers of the boys around Harlem and also searching the Harlem River by boat and helicopter.
“Because of their age, we’re very concerned,” Deputy Chief Brian Gill said at a press conference Tuesday. “We’re going to search by land, air and sea.”

Barrie's older sister, Fatima Diallo, said he usually walks home from school with another sister, but on Friday he never returned home. "This has never happened before, this is something that is shocking to everyone," Diallo said.
Barrie, of the Bronx, is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. He was last seen wearing a navy sweater with a "Democracy Prep Harlem Middle School" logo, gray pants and gray sneakers.
