NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 16-year-old boy was injured in Queens Friday morning in a shooting that police say also hit a nearby MTA bus.

The gunfire erupted at Beach 91st Street and Rockaway Boulevard in the Rockaway Beach neighborhood around 10:30 a.m.

The teen was hospitalized after being shot in the right shoulder, police said. He is expected to survive.

A suspect was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

Police said a bus was struck by a bullet during the shooting. No one on the bus was injured.

Sources told 1010 WINS that driver drove the bus with 20 passengers on board one block west to the the 100th Precinct stationhouse at Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 94th Street.

He unloaded all of the passengers onboard and then walked inside the stationhouse to report the incident, the sources said.

It's unclear what prompted the shooting, which occurred amid a rash of recent teen shootings across the city.
