NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A nine-year-old Bronx boy was fatally shot on Wednesday less than an hour after landing in the Dominican Republic for a family vacation.
Police arrested six men for the shooting of Gioser Luis Féliz, which took place during a botched robbery in Santiago.
Sergio Luis Féliz Mancebo, the boy’s father, brought the child to the Dominican Republic to visit family over spring break.
As the car was leaving Cibao International Airport in Santiago, a group of robbers surrounded the vehicle and opened fire when the driver refused to stop.
A bullet struck young Féliz in the head, killing him.
Police arrested Luis Ángel Vargas Brito, Derlin Javier Mercado Martinez, Cesar Junior Ulloa Cuevas, José Manuel Almonte Santana, Elian Martínez Sánchez and Tomás Peña Morel Tomacito for the shooting.
Arrangements are being made to transport the boy's body back to the Bronx for a funeral.
