Authorities believe Nickoles Rodriguez attacked Pedro Rodriguez on June 25 around 6:15 a.m.  on West 230th Street near Heath Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights.

When officers responded to reports of a robbery in progress, they found the elder Rodriguez lying unconscious with face and head trauma.

EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a week later on July 2.

Officials didn’t make clear whether the two men are related.

Police were originally searching for three men who arrived in a car with New Jersey plates around the time of the robbery.

It’s unclear if the NYPD is still searching for two more suspects, or if they now believe Nickoles Rodriguez bears sole responsibility for the attack.
