Rayvaughn Williams, 26, carried out the stabbing while robbing Canarsie Plaza Pharmacy on Aug. 12, 2019.

Williams said he wanted to pick up a prescription. When the pharmacist couldn’t find a record of the script, he pulled a knife out of a plastic bag and demanded money.

The rattled employee tried and failed to open the register, at which point Williams jumped over the counter and stabbed the worker multiple times.

The pharmacist was seriously wounded but survived the attack.

“Rayvaughn Williams tried to rob a neighborhood pharmacy and ended up senselessly, viciously attacking an innocent employee merely because he could not open the cash register fast enough,” said U.S. Attorney Breon Peace. “Today’s sentence sends a message that those who engaged in violence in our communities will be held accountable.”

Williams was charged with robbery in a Brooklyn federal court in July 2020.
