NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Bronx man fostering two children was arrested Monday for abusing them, according to police.

Michael Ramos, 34, was arrested after police responded to reports of a dispute just before 7:30 a.m. on Monday at his East Bronx apartment on Burke Avenue near Hering Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two severely malnourished children covered in bruises.

Ramos was fostering the siblings — a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, PIX11 reported citing anonymous police sources. The NYPD did not confirm the children’s ages nor the man’s relationship to them in a statement provided to 1010 WINS.

Emergency responders brought both of the kids to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

The alleged victims told police Ramos had beaten them with bats, pistol whipped them, bound their hands with electrical cord and refused to allow them to leave the apartment for months.

They had been in Ramos’ care since their mother’s death in December, PIX11 reported.

Ramos faces charges for assault, injury to children, recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon.
