Bullet grazes mom, nearly hits girl, 4, near Williamsburg Bridge entrance

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a gunman after a bullet that grazed a woman’s neck and nearly struck her 4-year-old daughter in Brooklyn on Saturday.

The shooting happened just before 11 p.m., when a 21-year-old woman was a front seat passenger inside of a 2015 Dodge Dart with her 24-year-old husband driving and their 4-year-old daughter as a rear passenger, officials said.

The vehicle was traveling onto the westbound entrance of the Williamsburg Bridge when they heard a gunshot, authorities said.

The 21-year-old woman then realized that she sustained a graze wound to the back of her neck.

There were no other injuries reported.

The victim's husband then drove the vehicle to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Elmhurst, where the victim received treatment.

A preliminary investigation determined that a bullet struck the vehicle in the rear passenger door on the driver's side, narrowly missed the 4-year-old girl in the rear passenger seat, and struck the headrest to the front passenger seat.

Police released a photo of the bullet hole on the victim's vehicle.
