Coney Island boardwalk shooting leaves 5 injured, 1 critically

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Five people were injured, one critically, during a shooting on the boardwalk of Coney Island early Sunday, police said.

Gunfire broke out around 2 a.m. at West 21st Street on the boardwalk where a “large group” of people were gathering, authorities said.

A 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman were both shot in the left leg and a 36-year-old man was shot in the chin. All three were taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.

A 19-year-old man was also shot in the leg and took private means to NYU Langone Hospital. A 31-year-old man was shot in the back and is in critical condition at NYU Langone Hospital.

Dozens of bullets were found at the scene. No description of the shooter was given.
