NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two thieves beat and robbed a man in the middle of the afternoon at a Lower Manhattan subway station, police said Monday as they released footage of the suspects.

The 46-year-old victim was waiting on a northbound 1 platform at the Rector Street station around 1:15 p.m. last Thursday when he was attacked.

Two males came up and started punching and kicking the man in the head, police said.

They then snatched his backpack and cellphone before fleeing the station.

The victim suffered swelling and bruising to his head. He refused medical attention at the scene.
