NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a fake UPS deliveryman and his accomplice, who police said stole a package from a West Village building and then tried to sell its contents at a nearby store last month.
The NYPD released images over the weekend of the two suspects in the Jan. 6 theft at 35 Bedford St. Police said one of them posed as a deliveryman to get into the building and then took a box from the lobby.
Later that morning, officials said the suspects entered a store located at 121 MacDougal Street near W. 3rd Street and attempted to use a credit card obtained from the package and sell the contents of the package to the store employee.
When the credit card was declined, and the employee refused to purchase the stolen items, the suspects fled on foot to parts unknown.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
