The tenant also told police that when she came home, she found Escalona inside the apartment on East 83rd Street near Avenue K in Canarsie, from where she rented out a room.

The tenant reported that Escalona ran out of the apartment and she noticed feces smeared across the door frame, door handle, as well as on the bathroom doorknob, faucet, and doormat, the NYPD said.

Officials charged Escalona with criminal mischief.

An investigation is ongoing.
