NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 17-year-old girl was shot Monday night as a gunman opened fire on a group of people outside a Bronx park, police said.

The teen was hanging out in the group at East 169th Street and Grant Avenue in Concourse Village, right outside Grant Park, when a man fired a shot into the crowd.

A bullet struck the girl in the chest, according to police.

It's unclear who the target was, but investigators don't believe the bullet was intended for her.

Charges were pending overnight and were expected to be revealed later Tuesday.
