The man was standing in front of a home on Freeman Street, near Intervale Avenue, in Crotona Park East at 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 when he was approached by the trio, according to police.

The group punched the man multiple times before one of them took out a knife and stabbed him repeatedly in the abdomen, police said.

As the victim was being stabbed, the two other attackers stole his backpack, according to police.

The suspects ran off westbound towards Prospect Avenue with the victim’s backpack, which contained bank cards, ID documents, keys and other items, police said.

EMS transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

A knife was recovered at the scene, according to police.
