NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 63-year-old security guard at an Upper East Side CVS was slashed in the face by a shoplifter late Monday, authorities said.

At around 11:30 p.m., the thief was grabbing an electric razor, blades, creams and other shaving products from a shelf of the pharmacy located on East 86th Street near Second Avenue, officials said.

The suspect was putting them in his bookbag when the guard attempted to stop him, police said.

The suspect then brandished a knife and slashed the employee just below the left eye, the NYPD said.

The guard was transported to New York-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.

The robber got away with nearly $400 worth of products, police said.

There have been no arrests made and an investigation is ongoing.
