The shootout involved New Rochelle police, who were searching for the suspect near the Ingersoll Houses on Myrtle Avenue when the gunfire erupted Sunday morning, sources said.

New Rochelle officers eventually took the suspect into custody without any injuries reported.

The NYPD was not involved in the exchange but responded to the incident.

NBC New York reports that the gunman was wanted in connection to the murder of a cab driver back in New Rochelle.

The cabbie, Andres Valenzuela, was fatally shot Thursday morning in a New Rochelle parking lot as he ended his shift.
