Husband and wife charged for allegedly smuggling guns from GA to NY

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A husband and wife were both arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday for smuggling guns from their home in Georgia to New York for illegal resale, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

Ronald and Anauncia Rogers, both 26, ran at least 68 guns from Georgia to New York between September 2018 and March 2022, according to prosecutors.

“The importation of firearms into the Tri-State exposes millions of New Yorkers to potentially lethal harm, and I commend the career prosecutors of this Office for partnering with the ATF and NYPD in the ongoing effort to rid our streets of illegal guns,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.

Anauncia would buy the guns and Roger would bring them to New York for sale.

The NYPD has so far seized six firearms registered under Anaucia’s name while making arrests in New York City.

The couple were charged with conspiracy to commit gun trafficking and gun trafficking.

Each face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted,
