According to police, the unprovoked and hate-fueled attack happened aboard a northbound Q train around 8:45 a.m.
The victim boarded the train at the Newkirk Avenue-Little Haiti train station, sat down, and began talking on her cell phone when the suspect sat beside her.
Without prior provocation or conversation, the perpetrator stood up and slugged her several times in the face, police said.
"Why did you hit me?" the victim asked, to which her attacker allegedly responded, "I hate Mexicans."
As the train then pulled into the 7th Avenue station, the victim took a cell phone photo of the suspect before she exited the train to parts unknown.
The victim remained onboard and left at the Atlantic Avenue train station. Though she sustained bruising to her forehead and a laceration to her upper lip, she refused medical attention.
Police said the suspect is around 5'6" tall, weighing 120 pounds, with a thin build, long dark hair in a ponytail and a tattoo with Roman numerals on her left arm. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a graphic on the front, blue jeans, black Crocs and carrying a purse.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
