NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 16-year-old boy has died after attempting to scale a tower on the Brooklyn waterfront Friday afternoon, police told 1010 WINS.

The teen fell from the small tower inside Marsha P. Johnson State Park in Williamsburg, near Kent Avenue and North 10th Street, just after 1 p.m., officials said.

He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue where he was pronounced dead.

The teen reportedly fell while attempting to take a photo, law enforcement sources told NBC New York.

The tower the teen fell from is a few stories tall. Further details were not immediately clear.

Police have not yet identified the teen. An investigation is ongoing.
