NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a man was slashed in the face during a verbal dispute with a group of men on an East Village street earlier this month.

Just after 6 p.m., on Tuesday, July 5, in front of 120 Saint Marks Place, a 19-year-old man was approached by a group of approximately five men that engaged him in a verbal dispute, officials said.

One of the suspects displayed an unknown sharp object and slashed the victim in the face.

That suspect fled eastbound on foot, authorities said.

The other suspects fled westbound.

The victim sought medical attention by private means at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in stable condition.
