NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD on Monday announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man in connection to a shooting that injured three people outside of a Washington Heights bodega.
Anthony Garcia of the Bronx was arrested Thursday and faces charges for attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment for the July 31 shooting outside the Marte Grocery store at 362 Audubon Avenue, according to police.
Authorities said three armed men followed another man with a gun inside the bodega. Surveillance video shows a store employee duck in fear after the fourth man went behind the counter during the incident.
The tense confrontation continued outside where shots erupted striking three bystanders — two women and an elderly man.
A 42-year-old woman was struck in her left arm and was transported in stable condition by medics to Columbia Presbyterian hospital. A 58-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man were transported in stable condition to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem for gunshot wounds.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
