
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 42-year-old man died when he lost control and crashed the vehicle he was driving in the Bronx over the weekend, the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad said Monday.
Just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, police responded to a 911 call of a single vehicle collision in the vicinity of Boston Road and Bronx River Parkway in Norwood, officials said.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victim was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 northbound on the Bronx River Parkway in the right lane when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons.
According to police, the vehicle veered right off the roadway into a grassy area.
The car then struck a fence and came to a final rest after striking a tree.
EMS responded and transported the to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced dead.
There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries have been reported as a result of this collision.
The investigation remains ongoing.
